Community Time Machine
Learning from each other
We’re beginning to receive some of the first responses from our Community Time Machine in County Wicklow – (Muireann, Aged 16), has been chatting with Dorothy Hutson in Bray, pictured above with one of her friendly goats. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Instagram for some wonderful creative projects from the young people involved.
This programme has been a great opportunity for the promotion of creativity and cross generational community engagement as part of the #KeepWell initiative with Wicklow County Council. We’re now entering phase two of the project in County Wicklow and hope to bring it to more areas over the coming months.
Green Neighbourhoods
Environmentally friendly communities
Creating green neighbourhoods can start with small steps at a community level such as:
- Encouraging more wildlife activity by introducing bird boxes or more wild flowers and planters, you could even try joining the all Ireland pollinator plan to encourage more bee activity (link below)!
- Holding a community clean up – Get your neighbours involved too, and try making an activity out of the day for younger community members
- Having your say in the government’s new climate action plan by getting involved in the climate conversations or getting in touch with your local TD to campaign for infrastructure improvements in your area!
- Have you got any ideas to help make our communities greener? – We’d love to hear about them!

Celebrating community
We are so excited to be launching a new pilot project over the coming weeks, supported by CAIRN 🏘
We will be working with residents in a number of new housing developments to help build strong, well connected and supportive communities.
As residents settle into their new homes, we will be providing each area with the tools they need to build a culture of connectedness from the beginning. Ultimately we want to create happy places for people to live, where neighbours feel supported by each other.
