Get the community’s creative juices flowing! An outdoor art gallery is great fun for your neighbourhood, and is an easy way to brighten up your area.

All you need is a space for people to hang their mini-masterpieces where they’re on display for everyone to see.
Encourage people of all-ages and cocooners to get involved. Keep things fresh and exciting by setting different weekly themes!

What You Need:

  • An outdoor spot to hang up some art
  • Loads of art by the whole neighbourhood!

Steps:

Find the perfect spot for your gallery

A community gallery needs a bit of curating and a watchful eye. Choose somewhere to hang the art that is convenient for people to stop and take in the gallery…
Your front garden wall
A tree or bush in the garden
A washing line using clothing pegs
Maybe there’s a laneway in your area that would be perfect?

Get the community drawing!

Once you know where you’ll be hanging the art, let your community know about the gallery and encourage them to get involved!
Use your neighbourhood WhatsApp or Facebook groups to set a theme for weekly exhibitions, and set a deadline so people know when to drop their artworks over to you.
Setting up a little drop off point in your front garden is an easy way to maintain socially distanced drop offs!

Weatherproof it

You can weather-proof your community gallery for the winter by laminating the art, or ask everyone who drops something over to weather proof it themselves.
For a quick hack- if you have some poly pockets lying around, put the art in there and seal the bottom with tape. Easy peasy!
